Late Friday afternoon and we are about ready to roll. Finally got the Falcon finished and fixed lots of little things that have bugged me for ages. Andrew and i worked on both cars and got away at 4pm and headed south, 4 hours after we planned. The weather did not look good and by Babinda down came the rain Smile and put up with it. We hoped to get the Ingham so we could beat the Bugs before dark , not good we drove strait through to Ingham. The Cars were covered in bugs and dirty from the rain. We when straight to the Ingham Showgrounds and registered. Then off to the Kanakas household arriving just in time for Dinner. After catching up with Manole and Leslie, Kate , Alex and Phil Smith who had not long arrived from Townsville. The other guests arrive in the morning. The phone rang at around 9 to tell me the organisers want the Mustang there at 7 in the morning!!! Bed around 11.30 and up at 5.30 Coffee and now it's light, wash the car from top to bottom, including under the bonnet which was covered in Mud. A quick call to Squeaker to tell him I was on my way and off I went. Andrew had time to get the Falcon ready as he did not have to be there till 8am. Into the hall and both Squeaker and prepped the Mustang. Then Breakfast and Neil headed over to the Falcon and finish that as well. Both Cars now looking fantastic now it's up the the judges. Mid afternoon and Andrew and Neil come into the hall to tell me I have a problem, the top 100 cars get invited to do laps of Ingham under Police escort and both cars had made it into the top 100.
We did the cruise and off we went to dinner. Bed by 11 and again up for breakfast It is well known that the best place for breakfast is the Kanakas household on the Sunday morning and all club members are welcome. Of to the show at 8am to clean and set the Mustang and club display for the last time.
2 pm and its time to hear the judges verdict.
First up for the third year in a row Best club display goes to the North Queensland Performance Ford Club. Each year we get better and better at it.
Next Award we had an interest in was Best Hot Rod. Runner up The Rats 32 Ute, another won to the good guys.
Next up was Runner up best Ford winner is Brian Bailey AU Falcon.
Next Best Ford and the winner is Brian Bailey 1966 Ford Mustang
But were are not finished yet.
Best Restoration Brian Bailey 1966 Ford Mustang.
All that hard work and long hours have payed off. So of we head home we hit the rain at Inisfail, a quick check of the fuel gauge and it's low should have enough to get to Portsmith fuel. Famous last words and the car sputters to halt about 10m km short of Gordonvale, Andrew goes and gets some fuel and it's all over.
Fantastic weekend.

Ingham 2008 Preparation
Last weekend on Saturday I damaged the front Bumper and on Sunday I backed the Falcon into the retaining wall at Sea Temple and damaged the rear bumper (bloody sand stone capping). I rung Lee the Painter from Cars of Cairns on Saturday night to ask if I could get the front repaired and painted in time for us to leave midday Friday to head to Ingham. Did he get a shock when I show him the rear as well. I had planed to repair the bars after Ingham but I now think it was meant to be done now.
The Falcon was book in to my mate Squeaker to prepare the car for Ingham. Last night I dropped by Squeakers to check out the car. I was knocked out by what I sore. I have never seen the car shine like it does now. The Car is the best I have ever seen it now all I need to do is get the front and rear bars back on today and it should look fantastic.
Last year the Falcon won best late model with not much preparation, scratched and holes in the front and rear bars and the paint was OK. This year the bars will be like new and the car is so much better that it was last year.
I have been preparing the Mustang as well during the week. Thankfully it has been very easy to prepare. Today I will wash if and cover it and it's ready to roll. Late this afternoon it is hoped to put the bars back on the falcon and have it ready as well. I am heading to Ingham with Andrew driving the Falcon, Jeff (Rat) in his 32 Ford Ute, Squeaker in his AUII XR8 and Beau in his BA XR6T.
I thought I would not have the Falcon ready in time but thanks to some very talented people it's almost there. I will post pictures later today.

Hi All,
Just a quick note not much has happened over the last month. I attended the Cairns Combined Car Clubs first get together on the first Wednesday this month. This will be a monthly get together from now on.
I also attended the Combine Car Clubs Swap Meet committee meeting last Tuesday.
I have a big weekend this weekend. WOW Sight and Sound are having a big car Sound etc, Sale this weekend and asked our club to show some cars and Run a BBQ. So Saturday is a big one I will be showing the Mustang (First Outing for the Car) and the Falcon.
Sunday See's the monthly Club Cruise, and again it looks like a big day with lots of new cars and Potential members coming.
Next weekend is the Ingham Car and Bike Extravaganza. I have both cars entered. Last year the Falcon took out best Late Model, I have done a lot of work on it for this year. My mate Neil aka "Squeaker" (if it's not Squeaker clean it's not Clean) is doing the preparation of the cars next week. He is the best one to detail the cars and does an awesome job.
I will post Pictures etc next week on this weekend.
