Bravehearts Operation Rudolph 2008
This year I had the pleasure to drive Channel Seven Brisbane news reader Sharon Ghidella and Bravehearts helper Kathy Brenton for operation Rudolph. It was another success and raised much needed funds for the Cairns office of Bravehearts. This year we were fortunate to have Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnson with us and I have never meet a person who is as passionate about a cause as Hetty. Her work is spreading so if you get the opportunity to assist please do so our children need your help.

Day two and the judges verdict
Day one Cairns Auto Spec
Motor is finally finished now all dressed up and looks a treat. Shame that we are starting again in a few weeks still I have been waiting to fit a turbo to the car for a long time.
The 66 was a hit with everyone, it has lots of competition though there are lots of Mustangs on display.
Day one is over and the cars were some of the first judged. It was very hot and humid in the hall, why do they run Car Shows at this time of year???

Super Cheap Promo Day Manunda
All the hard work and late nights were well worth it as the club and Super Cheap Manunda had a profitable day.
The Store had it's biggest day in over six months and the club made well over $500 on the day.
We have now been asked to do a day in every Super Cheap store in Cairns and Innisfail. The Manunda store has the lowest turn over of all the stores so we could made lots more at the other stores.
Super Cheap have also come on board as a club sponsor and we will do many promos together.

Day two of Preparation
This is how the rocker cover looked before I started on the rebuff. Today I received the Pole Position Auto Billet oil cap which looks so good on the rocker cover. In the pack from Jeff is some other goodies to go on the finished motor I will show you those later.
I arrived at Neils yesterday around two in the afternoon and started work on the rocker cover, after hours of work it was finished. Neil did the final polish and now all that is needed is to seal the cover to stop it oxidising like it did.
Extractors cleaned and painted ready to go back. Ceramic alloy finish.
Squeaker hard at work on the rocker cover. Get that camera out of me face.......
Rocker cover, Thermostat housing and base re polished and ready for sealing. We have done the cold air alloy pipes and silicone blue pipes as well.
We finished the night by fitting the new power steering switch removing the power steering pump for painting and the surport bracket for polishing. Next time we intend to test fit the turbo to make should we do not have the modify anything.
This morning I am sore everywhere arms back and legs from all the bending over the polishing wheels.

Cairns Car Guide Car Spectacular Preparation
Yesterday I arrived at Squeakers (aka Neil) and Neil had the car turned around and was positioning it in the shed. Neil and I have for weeks discussed what we were going to do to the car in preparation for the Cairns Guide show to the car. Work started last night and the above picture is were we finished last night most things strip out. We will be taking the power steering pump off to paint and the thermostat housing has to come off to be rebuffed.
We had a hell of a job getting the Extractors out, they had better go back in easier when there painted. All the alloy pits are to be re polished or to be polished and some other bits are off to be painted.
This is what it looked like before we started our attack. Neil is the driver behind this preparation. We have had a problem with Power steering fluid leaking , we think we found were it was coming from last night ,I will get the part and see if the switch is the problem.
Up on the stands and and ready to be cleaned underneath, wheels to be fully cleaned and detailed and full clean up and detail under the car. We have two weeks to get it done before the Supercheap Sausage Sizzle day. I will keep this up to date as we progress with the work.

The Serious Stuff
NQPFC October Cruise.
Lookout stop
Birds of prey in the mist.
Chef Neil cooked up a storm as usual. beef and pork rissoles, chicken salad, pasta salad, lettuce and tomato salad and a drink all for $5. And the club still made a small profit.
Finally something the blog. I missed the breakfast but caught up with the crew at the turn off to lake Morris. I had a great day and the drive back down the Mountain was a good test of the Fairlane as the Falcon is in Neils in pieces getting ready for the Cairns Post Car Spectacular later in November. We had such a good time during the day we followed up with dinner at the Balaclava Hotel that night.
November is looking like a busy month with the club showing and running a BBQ at Super Cheap in Manunda to raise funds for the club on the 8Th. The following weekend is a show at the Burnouts then the following weekend is the Cairns Auto spectacular. The last weekend of November is the clubs Christmas Weekend in Cardwell, Big,Big weekend.
Once all this is over the car is back to Neils and out comes the motor and the serious stuff starts. More on that later.
